FLOWTRACK
ROLE: DESIGNER, ARTIST
Flowtrack was designed for “Artifacts from the Multiverse” a show composed of artifacts from the world of Prospect and other fictional worlds throughout other realities.
The Flowtrack is somewhat akin to an arcade game, but in it’s fictional context, designed to induce a flow state and free your mind from the worries of the day.
I was inspired by the action of “pumping”, the act of pushing your body weight into a curved surface while skateboarding or cycling, which propels the rider and allows them to maintain or build momentum.
The Flowtrack works on a similar principle. Using a series of electromagnets, controlled by the user, to pull a steel ball bearing downward into the curved track surfaces. With rhythmic focus the user is able to create enough momentum to propel the ball around the track.
